Kobi Williams remains unbeaten at Winton
Despite losing out on pole, Kobi Williams remains undefeated after taking Heat 2 of Round 1 for the Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series at Winton.
It was a titanic fight between Williams and regular protagonist Joe Fawcett in what is developing into an intense rivalry for the remaining events of the season.
Williams got the jump of the rolling start, but it only took until Turn 1 on the second lap for Fawcett to snatch the advantage back and hold it for the much of the duration.
Later during lap 10, Williams made his move to take back the lead from Fawcett and crossed the line 0.347s clear to take his third win of the round.
Jamie Rowe scored another podium in third, but it was a tough fight with Will Lowing decided in favour of the former during the closing stages.
Hunter Salvatore made position early to score fifth from Brad James and a great drive from Giuseppe Imbrogno from the back after missing qualifying.
Imbrogno’s efforts were aided by a collision at Turn 10 in the closing stages between Fraser Hie and Lachlan Evennett in the battle for sixth after the pair locked wheels leading to both their retirements.
Jack Johnson scored eighth ahead of Kaleb Belak and Ethan Fitzgerald rounded out the top 10.
Joining Hie and Evennett in retirement was Tabitha Ambrose after pulling off track at Turn 4 with a mechanical problem.
The Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series will contest its final 30-minute Feature Race of the weekend at 3:30pm AEDT broadcast live on SBS On-demand, Fox Sports and Kayo.
